ALISON ENGEL

    As I grew up in the beautiful city of Maumee, OH I became infatuated with the thought of using art as a means of communication. For so many there is an inability to effectively share ideas through the use of words. This can take place due to different levels of functioning, emotional barriers, a fear of judgment, etc. My passion for sharing the power of art with others is my main inspiration and fuels my desire to teach. I hope to reach students, of all ages, and empower them to create valuable works of art.
         In 2008 I embraced my passion and began an art career by studying mixed media painting at the University of Toledo.  After graduating with honors I traveled to Columbia, SC where I was accepted into the Master of Art Education Program at the University of South Carolina. These scholastic majors fed my greatest desire of reaching out to the youth around in my community, in traditional educational settings, and helped students to discover the benefits of examining their true passions through expressive art.
